According to recent research the answer is no! 4 out of 5 mums with young children didn't know that the first British new potatoes are harvested in May and a staggering 60% said they have no idea where new potatoes are even grown!
New potatoes are grown closer to you than you may realise. They're truly the ultimate local crop as they're grown everywhere from Ayrshire through to Suffolk and Cornwall, Kent to Lincolnshire, Pembrokeshire to Cheshire.
Those in the know on potatoes seem to be the older generations, they feature in 79% of meals cooked by pensioners but only 59% of meals cooked by young families. The Potato Council want to turn this around and not let young families miss out on the huge benefits of the potato to both your wallet and waistline this Summer.
